Sponk! is lead by Joe Spence, or Spence as friends call him. He is a vocalist and singer/songwriter for the band. Native of Corpus Christi, he  has played on various stages in the Corpus Christi, Austin, and Dallas areas. His eclectic style is influenced by the sounds of Billy Joel, Bruno Mars, Randy Newman, Maroon 5, and Vulfpack, to name a few. He thrives on the groove of Motown and steady beats of classic rock, making connections with the emotion in a song and effectively sharing with his audience. Spence performs Sponk! catalog and popular covers as a solo act. 

The full band Sponk! is a 5-piece Pop/Funk band. The band formed at the University of North Texas College of Music in 2019, uniting over their shared love of Pink Floyd, Vulfpeck, and Billy Joel. Their unique brand of entertainment fuses explosive groove and lush harmony with witty banter and high energy that will make you want to jump around and sing along.

The band released  their self titled debut album in March 2024, featuring the the soulful sound of Crumble. On April 26, 2024, they released their newest single Redneck Octopus. Another single, Change Today, is scheduled for release at the end of May 2024.
